Escritor de Volta Redonda, RJ publica seu primeiro livro e obra será lançada em Portugal

Um olhar diferenciado para o século 18 com uma forma clara e que estimula a pesquisa histórica, destacando, entre muitos pontos, a figura de Machado de Assis.

Assim é o contexto de ‘Oitocentos no plural – História e literatura nos tempos Machadianos (1838 – 1889)’, escrita pelo professor e historiador Djalma Augusto dos Santos Mello, publicada pela RH Soluções Artísticas.

A obra aponta questões do comportamento da sociedade carioca em um Brasil ocorrido cerca de dois séculos passados através de movimentos literários, o hábito e consumo por obras que marcaram aquela época e a influência de um extremo ao outro, passando por envolvimentos políticos, manifestações artísticas, o acesso à literatura em um período escravocrata, as transformações da sociedade, a desigualdade social e a presença da mulher em um período que, ao mesmo tempo demonstra uma distância da contemporaneidade quanto uma aproximação de comportamentos ainda vigentes no século vinte e um.


“A minha motivação está fortemente ligada à minha infância e juventude. Apesar de eu nunca ter vivido no Rio de Janeiro, percorri com a minha mãe o centro do Rio de Janeiro.

No centro eu ficava contemplando os casarões na Rua do Ouvidor, a Rua Gonçalves Dias onde se encontra a Confeitaria Colombo e a antiga Avenida Central (Avenida Rio Branco) diante dos monumentais conjuntos arquitetônicos do Theatro Municipal, o Museu de Belas Artes e a Biblioteca Nacional”, ressalta Djalma, também conhecido pela classe artística, literária e de historiadores como Guto Mello.


Membro da Academia Voltarredondense de Letras, Djalma ocupa a cadeira 27 da instituição cultural e se declara as fontes de pesquisa para o livro: “Essa pesquisa durou cerca de 4 anos, com intensa pesquisa na Biblioteca Nacional e na Biblioteca da Academia Brasileira de Letras, além das fontes secundárias para a pesquisa”, finaliza.
